Hotel Branding in India: How to Win the Booking Before Check-in
What a hotel owner or GM should expect from a branding and marketing agency, drawn from our work with Ramada Gangtok, The Regent, Pride Biznotel and The Palms.
A hotel is sold twice. First on a phone, often weeks before the stay, when a guest compares your listing with every other property nearby. Then at the front desk. Hotel branding is the work of winning that first sale.
This guide is for owners and general managers deciding whether to hire an agency. It draws on our work with four hotels: Ramada Gangtok, The Regent in Chandigarh, Pride Biznotel in Haldwani and The Palms.
Where hotels lose guests
The problem was rarely the rooms. It was how the hotel showed up online. Three gaps came up again and again.
- No content of their own. Ramada Gangtok, The Regent and The Palms had no previous content to work with.
- Missed influencer collaborations. All four hotels were missing out on them.
- Slow or damaging conversations. Delayed responses held back Ramada Gangtok and The Palms, and The Regent had a negative brand image to overcome.
Start with an identity guests can touch
A hotel identity runs from the logo to the key card, the door hanger, the linen, the amenity bottles and the menu. When those match what the guest saw online, the stay feels like the one they booked.
The brief changes with the property. The Regent, formerly the Hotel Regency, dates back to 1991, so the job was to present a reimagined four-star hotel as something new while keeping its history. Ramada Gangtok has a 24/7 casino, a spa and a rooftop pool, so the job was making many experiences read as one stay. Pride Biznotel, with 26 rooms and three event spaces, needed a tone that speaks to holidaymakers and business travellers at once. Our branding work sets the identity and the tone of voice together.
Show the real hotel
Guests want to see the room they will sleep in, the view from the pool and the food on the table. Stock photographs cannot. For Ramada Gangtok, The Regent and The Palms we built the content library from scratch, with our own photography and film of the rooms, the dining and the setting.
That library feeds social media that runs every month, not in bursts. At Pride Biznotel, where UGC creators were hard to find, user-generated content sat alongside our own shoots. Influencer outreach became part of the plan for Ramada Gangtok, The Regent and The Palms.
Treat listings and reviews as part of the brand
An OTA listing is often the first page a guest reads about you. Its photographs, description and facts should match your own channels and what the guest finds at check-in. We optimised OTA listings for all four hotels, and the Google Business Profile for The Regent, because that is where guests check the map, the photographs and the reviews.
Guests read how a hotel answers a complaint as closely as the complaint itself. Online reputation management was part of the work at every hotel we have marketed. The Regent team describes it as "proactive, instantly addressing online issues and keeping our reputation pristine."
Give interest somewhere to land
Content and ads create interest. A landing page turns it into a booking or an enquiry. We built landing pages for Ramada Gangtok, The Regent and The Palms, so a guest who finds the hotel on social media or search arrives on a page made to take the booking, not just describe the rooms. For a full site, our web development team works in the same studio.
When a hotel needs paid reach, performance marketing runs Meta and Google campaigns from the same content. Ramada Gangtok and The Palms also ran brand awareness campaigns with us.
Why one agency, and what to ask
With one agency, identity, content, listings, reviews and pages stay in one voice, and nobody at the hotel has to manage five suppliers. The Ramada team put it plainly: "Now they handle all our digital complexity, from social media to lead generation and web maintenance, and it just works."
Before you sign with anyone, ask to see hotel work you can check for yourself. Ask who shoots the content, who replies to reviews and how quickly, and whether OTA listings are in scope.
Not sure where your hotel stands? Run the free brand score. It needs only your website or Instagram link, with no sign-up, and shows what to fix first. Then read the Ramada Gangtok and The Regent case studies, or our hotel marketing guide.
